Teacher Training Programmes
- Undergraduate courses (BEd, BA/BSc with QTS): Find suitable courses and apply through UCAS
- Postgraduate ITT & School Centred Initial Teacher Training: Find suitable courses and apply through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR).
- Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP)
The GTP is a school-based teacher training programme for UK graduates. Your school will pay you on an unqualified teacher’s salary (anywhere from £15,461 depending on your responsibilities, experience and location). Registered Teacher Programme (RTP) in England is another school-based teacher training programme, though not as widely available as the GTP. On the RTP you will be employed by a school, earn a salary, complete your degree and work towards qualified teacher status (QTS) all at the same time.
The RTP is a good choice for people with some experience of higher education, but without a degree, who want to change to a teaching career but need to continue earning while they train. for further information, please see the RTP pages of the TDA website as this fully covers eligibility, funding and how to apply.

School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT)
If you’re a graduate and want to complete your training in a school environment, consider school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT). SCITT programmes are designed and delivered by groups of neighbouring schools and colleges.

Applying for your First Teaching Post
Getting a Teaching Post workshops are held around December or January each year for current Bath Spa Teachers (PGCE trainees). Topics covered include where to look for vacancies, applications, CV's, supporting statements, interviews etc. We will liaise with the Education department to arrange these.

Induction - core standards and assessment:
The relevant standards for induction are called the core standards within the framework for professional standards and these continue to apply to all teachers throughout their careers.
The standards set out what an NQT must know, understand, and be able to do in order to successfully complete induction.
