Getting into Teaching

Graduates can apply for a teacher training course through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry which acts as a clearing house for teacher training applications in Primary, Secondary and FE sectors.

Other ways of qualifying to teach after your degree are possible through the School Centred Initial Teacher Training Programme (SCITT), the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) and the Registered Teacher Programme (RTP).

The Student Associate Scheme is an excellent opportunity for those considering teaching to gain experience in the classroom and find out more about life as a teacher. Students are paid up to a maximum of four weeks over the two parts of the scheme. The scheme is running until July 2008.
